Transceiver & Extender
In communications technology, a repeater is an electrical or optical signal amplifier or conditioner for increasing the range of a signal. The repeater is located at some distance from the transmitter, receives its signals and retransmits them in conditioned form, thus enabling a greater distance to be bridged. A transceiver, from the English transmitter 'sender' and receiver 'receiver', is a combination of both. Generally accepted abbreviations are Rx for receiver, Tx for transmitter and Trx (Xcvr) for transceiver.
