Displays
LCD means “Liquid Crystal Display” and is the oldest of all display types. LCDs consist of two main components: a backlight and a liquid crystal layer embedded between two polarized glasses with colour filters. In simple terms, liquid crystals are tiny rod-shaped molecules that change their orientation and thus their light transmission in the presence of an electric current. The individual color values are generated by means of color filters.
The term “Mini-LED Display” is used to describe the latest display technology that uses a smaller LED chip. This guarantees the same brightness but also finer control of lighting levels, making it ideal for use in residential and commercial lighting applications. The smaller size of the chip allows for a higher density of LEDs, increasing the amount of light produced by each unit. This also allows manufacturers to reduce costs. Mini-LED Displays are also ideal for use in small, portable devices where space is at a premium. The technology also allows products to be made thinner and lighter than ever before, making them also ideal for use in outdoor applications.
